On Monday, senior vice president of the Supreme Court Justice Qazi Faez Isa stated that he and the nation's highest court were in support of the Constitution.
He made the remarks while he was the sole top court judge present at a special national constitutional convention in the National Assembly hall to commemorate Pakistan's golden jubilee of its constitution.
On April 10, 1973, the National Assembly approved the Constitution; on April 10, 1973, the president signed it into law, and on August 14, 1973, it became law.
The remarks made by Justice Isa, who will be appointed Pakistan's next chief justice in September, come amid a division within the Supreme Court that emerged over the course of several hearings on the possibility of holding elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
